Susan Sandler, ESQ.

Susan Sandler serves as the Statewide Pro Bono Coordinator for the Florida Community Development Legal Project and is the Project Director of the Judge Don Castor Community Law Center, a project of the Volunteer Lawyers Program at Bay Area Legal Services. 

 

Susan works directly with nonprofit organizations and small businesses to identify their legal needs and places eligible clients with volunteer business law attorneys throughout Florida.  She also brings national training opportunities to nonprofit organizations in all areas of transactional business law include board development,  branding, contracts,  forming a 501(c)3, special events, labor management, volunteer management, insurance and risk management, social enterprise, nonprofit expansion, succession planning and intellectual property.

 

Susan has practiced business, administrative and Social Security law in the Tampa Bay area since 1987.  Her business law experience includes bankruptcy law, government regulation of banks, securities, finance, cemeteries and unclaimed property, and representation of nonprofit charities in transactional business law matters.  She previously served as Pro Bono Manager of the Bay Area Legal Services Volunteer Lawyers Program (VLP).

 

Susan is a member of the Supreme Court of the United States, the Florida Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Florida Association of Women Lawyers (HAWL chapter) and Exponentum ®, a national network of business law pro bono providers. 

 

She served as president of the Florida Pro Bono Coordinators Association, Vice Chair of the Florida Bar Consumer Protection Law Committee, Chair of the Hillsborough County Bar Association Community Liaison Committee and Administrative Law Section, Administrator for the 13th Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee and President of Phi Alpha Delta (Stetson Chapter). She has been recognized on numerous occasions for her volunteer leadership and was awarded the HCBA’s James M. “Red” McEwen Memorial Award and 13th Judicial Circuit’s Outstanding Pro Bono Service Award. 

 

In her spare time, Susan is a member and serves on the board of Ye Loyal Krewe of Grace O’Malley.
